This event was originally scheduled for January 17th but has been rescheduled to February 19th. If you were signed up for the previous date and wish to participate in the rescheduled event, you MUST register again.

The UM Center for Community Engagement is organizing a Day of Service on February 19th, 2022, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. This event is being held to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On this day, students, faculty, and staff will join forces alongside community members as voluntary participants in service projects throughout the Oxford/Lafayette area. Through active participation in the community and intentional relationship building, the MLK Day of Service seeks to continue Dr. King’s legacy of love, service, and community.

Check-In will be begin at 8:30 am. Upon arrival, volunteers will be assigned a group with whom they will work on a given project for the duration the event. Volunteers may also register as a group so that they will be assigned the same project.

Requirement Details
Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
  1. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.

  2. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
