About

NOTE: CASA LATINA FOLLOWS A RIGOROUS PROCESS TO SELECT, ONBOARD AND TRAIN VOLUNTEERS BEFORE THEY START SERVING AT CASA LATINA. MAKE SURE THAT YOU SCHEDULE TIME TO GO THROUGH THIS PROCESS BEFORE YOU COME TO CASA LATINA.

Casa Latina was founded in 1994 to empower Seattle’s Latino immigrants by providing them educational and economic opportunities, giving people the tools they need to work, live, support their families and contribute to the Seattle community.

Our Education Program, Day Worker Center, Workers' Defense Committee, and the Leadership Program are all focused on giving the training, knowledge and support needed for our constituents to move toward greater self-sufficiency.

Volunteering in the DAY WORKERS' CENTER:

  • receive calls requesting workers
  • process online worker requests
  • negotiate with employers around fair wages and safe workplace conditions,
  • communicate Casa Latina’s expectations to potential employers
  • follow up with employers regarding their experience with Casa Latina workers
  • enter employment and feedback information into the DWC database

Working in the DWC is a great opportunity to gain experience in the most direct employment work done here at Casa Latina – a model that is being replicated around the country!

DWC Schedule: Mon.-Fri. 7:00am-10:30am / Sat. 7:00am-10:30am
