Join the movement to make a difference in the City of Bridges. At Brown Hope, our Black Resilience Fund is helping real families, friends, and neighborhoods, living in our communities.
In the face of persistent systemic inequities, we lift up community solutions for
The Black Resilience Fund was launched in Portland, Oregon in June 2020 after the murder of George Floyd.
10,000 allies and neighbors from all backgrounds took to action, supporting Black Portlanders with immediate financial relief, such as rent, groceries, unpaid bills, and more.
Since our founding, more than $2.6 million has been distributed to Black Portlanders.
This year, we’re excited to announce our most ambitious plan yet– building back from COVID-19 by building a lasting foundation of resilience for Black Portlanders.
In 2023, Black Resilience Fund will transform into a 3-year, village building cohort with an income guarantee.
An income guarantee is a solution that lifts all boats, and our goal is to provide a platform free from red tape and bureaucracy, helping Black Portlanders achieve long-term dreams, such as having a family, advancing their career, and pursuing higher education.
Each Black Portlander selected for the program will participate for 3 years, receiving up to $2,000 dollars a month in direct cash assistance, and attending monthly community-building gatherings with their fellow participants.
We have an ambitious goal to raise $500,000 this Summer which will give 50 Black Portlanders the opportunity to join Black Resilience Fund’s inaugural cohort.
Our initiative is funded 100% by the community.
Our dream is only possible with the generosity of local small businesses, faith and community groups, and everyday supporters like you.
It may take years to recover from the shockwaves of COVID-19, but we believe that Black Resilience Fund will be a strong foundation of community and prosperity for generations to come.
We can be a resilient village, together.
