DONATION MONITOR ASSIGNMENTS - Updated Daily
Donation Drive volunteers (Faculty, Staff, Students, AND Community) help facilitate residential hall move-out by collecting, sorting, and organizing donations collected during move-out. There are three volunteer shifts: Donation Monitors, Pick-Up, and Sorting Volunteers. Each shift lasts between 1-2 hours, and all volunteers are provided gloves, tools, and snacks.
Volunteers who serve over 3 hours will be allowed to collect donations for organizational/personal use (must be able to haul yourself).
Donation Monitors: Will facilitate donation collection at 1 of the 7 donation collection sites on campus. They will ensure that only items on the donation collection list are placed in the storage containers and that all other items are disposed of properly. You will be assigned a collection site prior to your shift beginning. Please message us if you have a collection site preference or plan to volunteer with a group.
Pick-up volunteers: Assist staff in collecting donations from the 7 donation sites on campus. Volunteers will meet in the JAC Danvers Lot (1111 Jackson Ave. W, Oxford, MS) and go with staff to the dorms to pick up donations.
Sorting volunteers: Assist staff in sorting and organizing donations for donation delivery. Donations sites include Holding Hands, Lyceum Locker, Doors of Hope, Salvation Army, and many more. The sorting location is at the Danvers Lot.
The Move Out Donation Drive seeks to support students during move-out with the opportunity to donate usable items to second-hand stores rather than throwing them away. This program is led by the Center for Community Engagement and supported by its many campus and community partners such as Student Housing, Office of Sustainability, ASB, ReRebs, Grove Grocery, and more.
